Zoetermeer's city hall and central library have been renovated. Commissioned by Dura Vermeer, VDNDP worked on the building model for implementation using the VO+ as a basis.
Zoetermeer's city hall dates back to the 1990s. Built at the time by Dura. The energy label G was far from fitting the requirements for contemporary buildings, and so was more. Zoetermeer's administration was faced with the difficult task: demolition and new construction or sustainable renovation? It became the latter. The ambition: to make City Hall future-proof and vibrant again. This contract was awarded to Dura Vermeer and we as VDNDP supported this project by working on the building model with VO+ as a basis.
The renovation of the city hall was seized upon to make the building considerably more sustainable.
To get the energy label from G to A, the building was gutted and only the concrete skeleton remained. A new facade with higher insulation value was applied and the installations were renewed. Thanks to the application of heat and cold storage (WKO), new sensor-controlled LED lighting and 400 solar panels on the roof, the building could now be completely "off gas." Partly as a result, the energy label went from the former G-label to an A-indication.
