The Holbeinhuis, located at Coolsingel 65 in Rotterdam, is currently undergoing a renovation project. VDNDP is providing the construction drawings for this project, commissioned by main contractor J.P. van Eesteren.
Dutch insurer Athora Netherlands purchased the office building in 2013 and is redeveloping the property into a sustainable office building. This historic building, originally designed by architect Kraaijvanger in 1954, is now being redesigned by the same architect in collaboration with CBRE Development Services.
The renovation includes several aspects, including the replacement of all facade frames and roofs, as well as the addition of high-quality insulation. A notable feature of the renovation is the creation of a connection between the basement floor, first floor and mezzanine through voids and a new staircase. In addition, interior gardens will be created in the basement. A public roof terrace and green roof will be created at the rear of the building.
On the eighth floor is the crown of the building, to which slats will be added. All window frames and the roof terrace on the eighth floor will also be replaced. In addition, all installations will be completely renewed.
After the renovation, Holbeinhuis will have an energy label A and a BREEAM Very Good certificate, meeting high sustainability standards.
The renovation of the Holbeinhuis marks an important step in the preservation of Rotterdam's cultural heritage. The building will not only retain its historical value, but thus also meet modern energy efficiency and sustainability requirements. The Holbeinhuis will be an office building with a distinctive, exclusive signature combining historic, classic elements with a contemporary, urban interior with a tough Rotterdam touch.
Upon completion of the renovation project, Holbeinhuis will be an iconic and attractive workplace for professional companies in Rotterdam. It will be leased by CBRE Advisory & Transaction Services Office Rotterdam.
