The project on Valentijnkade in Amsterdam East involves an apartment complex with 75 homes. Two apartments on the first floor will be executed as MIVA homes, and three apartments will be live-work spaces. The street facade of the building is a modern interpretation of the Amsterdam Belt '20-'40 architecture, with unusual masonry details such as louvres, shaped bricks at an angle, serrated masonry and glazed masonry as a parapet on the first floor. VDNDP is providing the Building engineer elaboration of the project in collaboration with 2CO architects. The SO and VO phases were worked out by 2CO, with VDNDP involved in an investigative and analytical capacity. VDNDP is further elaborating the DO through to the UO.
VDNDP together with 2CO architects (Marco van Zal and Jacco van Wengerden) won the tender for this project of Eigen Haard. 2CO worked out the SO and VO, in which our role was 'looking along'. We now do the elaboration from the DO to the UO, commissioned by ERA Contour. The aesthetic control remains with 2CO architects. In this way, our team continues to work together from its strengths throughout the project.
