• Thomas à Kempisplantsoen

The Thomas à Kempis Plantsoen, or Thak for short, is a large housing project near Leidsche Rijn station in Utrecht. Commissioned by Woonin and Portaal, we are working in a construction team with Dura Vermeer Bouw Midden West to develop 350 new homes on the site of the current, outdated porch flats.

The project is divided into two large building blocks, each with its own recognizable and distinctive design. VDNDP has been involved from the preliminary design (VO) phase, aiming to take an integrated approach to the design. This includes testing the design prepared by M3H against the client's requirements and checking that external advice and applicable regulations have been correctly incorporated into the plan. Now that the project is in the final design (DO) phase, our focus is on the structural engineering in combination with the BIM model. We work closely with both the architect, to ensure the aesthetic quality of the design, and the contractor and other consultants, to realize the best technical solutions within the boundary conditions of the design. This cooperation will certainly lead to a beautiful final result. Teamwork makes top work!
