Rijnstate - Operating room complex

VDNDP did the technical elaboration from DO to UO of the Rijnstate operating room complex. In the various projects for Rijnstate Hospital, we used our knowledge of hospitals to create a functional, feasible and achievable architectural design where much attention was paid to the integral approach between construction and installations.

About Rijnstate Hospital - Operating Room Complex

In five phases, the hospital built a new operating room complex that is connected to the existing building with an underpass and a walkway. The work began by creating, among other things, six ORs and an elevator for emergency patients going directly from the ambulance to an OR. Quite an operation, with structural challenges in fitting all the OR facilities and connections to the existing hospital building.

Among other things, a large sterile storeroom, a holding area where patients are received, an office for staff and eight new ORs were also realized in the original building.
