North of the IJ Canal in Amsterdam, in Buiksloterham, a new building is being developed in the center of the neighborhood: Poppies. Poppies is to become a pioneer of its kind. The mix of functions, architectural ambitions and progressive construction method contribute to this. VDNDP contributes to the engineering of this beautiful project.

    About Poppies

Poppies includes 98 apartments and communal facilities such as a kitchen, living room, gallery, hospitality, roof garden, studio and work spaces. The apartments will be made entirely of Cross Laminated Timber. The apartments are prefabricated and will be installed and interconnected on site as complete modules.

Such a construction method requires good and far-reaching engineering. To that engineering VDNDP may contribute along with a fine team of builders and consultants.

Like the wild poppy, a pioneer species that thrives in challenging (urban) locations, Poppies will evolve as a beautiful and resilient community development. A showcase for circular design, this experimental mixed-use development acts as an urban oasis - with an expansive rooftop garden and orchard - and a hub for upcycling and smart energy.
