LocHal Tilburg

The Tilburg LocHal used to be where NS locomotives were built. In 2017, the hall was empty and the municipality wanted to realize a library here. The existing plan up to the VO level was further developed by VDNDP into a DO, TO and UO. In addition, we provided overall project management from engineering.

About Repurposing LocHal in Tilburg

The municipality chose this location to make it truly a place where Tilburgers come together. The large space and generous city balcony lend themselves perfectly to this. In addition to the library, entrepreneurs can rent space at Seats2Meet, also located in the building.

VDNDP worked on behalf of BINX Smartility, a contractor from Groenlo. Together we worked extremely hard during the tender phase to win this wonderful UAV-GC contract: successfully!

In 2020, the Lochal Tilburg received the Europe Nostra Award, the award for exceptional restoration and transformation projects of high quality. Earlier, the Lochal won the NRP Gulden Feniks, a Dutch Design Award. And at the World Architecture Festival, the Lochal was named World Building of the Year 2019.
