In Arnhem, next to the train station will be ART. A design by VenhoevenCS. Art will be a microcity, where living, working and recreation will have a place. For Bouw21 VDNDP works out the plan to environmental permit application, technical and implementation ready design.
ABC Plan Development and BTB Group won NS Real Estate's competition in 2016 with the ART concept. Meanwhile, the concept has been further developed. On the "city balcony" - the last high-rise location of Arnhem Central Station - between the Rhine Tower and Pathé cinema, ART (the ARnhemToren) will stand in 2025. The two towers, which will be 30 and 50 meters high, will connect Pathé (about 35 meters high) in steps with the existing Rijn and Park Tower (about 70 meters high).
Like Het Platform in Utrecht, Venhoeven CS architectural firm developed the design as a "micro city" with multiple functions: hospitality and flexible workplaces on the transparent lower floors, flexible office space above and thirty to sixty homes on the upper floors.
Arnhem presents itself as a city of fashion and design and ART seeks a connection to this in the design. For the building's facade, Venhoeven CS was inspired by a stretched net panty by fashionDesigner Iris van Herpen. She learned the trade at the art academy in Arnhem.
VDNDP is further developing the plan, together with the team, into an environmental permit application, technical and implementation-ready design.
