Together with Studio Ard Hoksbergen, in the summer of 2021, we won the architectural selection for the new building of Xplore - Agora Amsterdam, a secondary school for 600 students in Amsterdam North, commissioned by ZAAM. The building has 35 classrooms, 6 maker spaces and a grand café.
Agora is about autonomous learning. This autonomy goes so far that the child alone determines what is meaningful to him or her. As a result, each child follows his or her own learning route. The learning question of the child is central. The curiosity or desire to learn is leading. From the learning question, the learning process arises. The new building for Xplore Agora in Elzenhagen Zuid (Amsterdam North) is the first building in the Netherlands designed specifically for this educational concept. Together with Studio Ard Hoksbergen we are responsible for all design phases.
