Commissioned by GoedeStede, VDNDP, as architect , realized the Waterstate project architect collaboration with Koopmans. VDNDP has been involved since the feasibility study, and we were responsible for the entire design process and technical development. Waterstate is a complex of 28 senior apartments located in the Waterwijk neighborhood in Almere. From the outside, the project is characterized by staggered window sections, varied brickwork patterns, and continuous facade bands. The balconies at the corners of the building are staggered and form part of these facade bands. Due to the prominent location the building occupies within the existing environment, it will serve as the entrance to the Waterwijk. Great care was taken to ensure a seamless integration with the existing surroundings and to preserve the spatial quality around the building. Through close collaboration with other consultants and the use of 3D BIM models, we had a very smooth engineering process. This allowed us to lay the ideal foundation for successful execution. Construction of Waterstate began in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2023.
