The Johanna is a new apartment building on the corner of Dockslandsweg and the van der Pekbrug.
De Johanna is a new apartment building located at the corner of Dockslandsweg and Van der Pekbrug. The new Overhoeks De Johanna development consists of 105 affordable rental units with storage spaces and bicycle parking, as well as 3 commercial spaces. De Johanna is a striking building with its seven stories and square floor plan. Distinctive features include the two setbacks on the 6th floor and the precast concrete facade. On the spacious ground floor, a communal outdoor area has been created with a view of the water. The interior is characterized by a spacious atrium, where prefabricated concrete staircases have been playfully integrated to connect with the concrete void edges. In early April 2026, the residents of De Johanna received their keys.
Another successful Overhoeks collaboration
This project followed on from the previous projects De Berend, De Jakoba, August and the Louise, also in Overhoeks.
Like all our Overhoeks projects, this one is characterized by very close collaboration between the contractor, architect, client, and consultants to bring the design to fruition. The effective collaboration within this integrated team has once again proven its worth in this project. Project developer and client Julienne Schreinemachers of Ymere discusses this so-called “co-making” approach inan interviewArchitect DeArchitect .
