About Overhoeks De Jakoba

The new building at Overhoeks De Jakoba consists of 135 social housing units, 2 commercial spaces and a space for Ymere's neighborhood manager. A striking appearance, designed by architectural firm Studioninedots. Special about this project: the construction time of this sustainable building has been considerably shortened compared to similar projects by using an almost entirely prefabricated concrete facade.

The project is characterized by a very intensive collaboration between contractor, architect, client and consultants to engineer the design. The good cooperation in this integral team proved itself again in this project in Overhoeks. Project developer and client Julienne Schreinemacher of Ymere tells in an interview to the De Architect about this so-called 'co-making' approach.

This project follows the earlier De Berend project, also in Overhoeks.

The Jakoba has been named Residential Building of the Year 2023.

In designing De Jakoba, Studioninedots succeeded in creating social housing that doesn't look like it. In fact, according to the jury, it is among the most beautiful projects in Overhoeks. In its design, Studioninedots succeeded in manipulating the chosen precast concrete building system in such a way that on the one hand construction costs and construction time were reduced and on the other hand an elegantly shaped building could be created that is beautifully detailed.

The jury calls on politicians to keep putting clients like Ymere in their power here, certainly also financially. In this way, residential buildings like this can be realized everywhere in the future that are accessible to everyone
