In the Merwedekanaal zone in Utrecht, a building block of 66,400 m² is being realized, with 779 rental homes and various facilities. The urban plan is translated into an attractive living and working area, with lively plinths, mobility facilities and plenty of greenery. The design consists of 13 buildings that create a diverse and characteristic cityscape through variation in height and facade layout.
The design consists of 13 buildings that create a diverse and characteristic cityscape through variations in height and facade layout. Different materials, including brick, natural stone, and wood, give each building its own identity, while maintaining unity.
VDNDP is responsible for the Building engineer of the plan in the TO and UO phases in a BIM model. The model is constructed on the basis of the project ILS in such a way that the contractor and suppliers can continue 'seamlessly'. Our model supports chain integration.
We use our specification methodology to draw up our matrix assessment framework. This allows us to check whether the plan meets the client's requirements. Our matrix specifications are used to record strategic choices and contribute to a consistent dataset for each phase.
In addition to Block 1a, VDNDP is also actively involved in Merwedekanaalzone Block 2a.
