In the Kauwgomballenkwartier in Overamstel in Amsterdam comes a new urban icon. The design, in which circularity and a green living environment are important principles, is by Marc Koehler Architects. VDNDP provides the engineering, design and specification of the design in the TO and UO phase.
The building consists of an open plinth with two towers of apartments twisted and stepped in relation to each other. The space in between becomes a collective green garden. The roof edge is also green. Below ground level is a 2-story parking basement.
The building is adaptable to many uses. The demountable structure will feature reusable infill systems. The non-load-bearing facades, interior walls, furniture and technical facilities can be moved or replaced in a circular fashion.
VDNDP is commissioned to engineer, further design and specify the design in the TO and UO phases, working closely with the client, architect and the design team.
