New accommodation is being built for the Delftsche Studenten RoeiVereeniging Laga (D.S.R.V. Laga) rowing club at Nieuwe Haven in Delft. Commissioned by J.P. van Eesteren and Architekten Cie., we worked on the technical design and the implementation-ready design (TO and UO). The building combines a boathouse, workshop, canteen, ergometer room, and office space in one.
A special feature is the stepped shape of the building, which was achieved using a largely timber construction consisting of HSB walls, COT beams, and wooden floors.
Special features are also incorporated into the facades: for example, the old granite boulders from the quay are given a new function in the facade cladding of the ground floor, and mooring posts are reused for the wooden facade work.
Our role was to develop the technical details and set up the BIM model. We took care of the drawings for the implementation in line with the architect design architect turned it into a feasible plan that the contractor could use to start building.
The first pile was driven on September 19, 2025, and the circular new building must be ready for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
All functions come together in the building, and sustainability and circularity are important principles for the new building, which will be the most sustainable boathouse in the Netherlands.
