The 2Amsterdam project involved the redevelopment of two existing office towers from the 1980s, known as the Stibbe and Akzo Nobel towers on Amsterdam's Zuidas business district. Based on the design by architecture firm KCAP, both towers were radically rebuilt by J.P. van Eesteren. VDNDP took care of the entire Building engineer implementation.
The total 2Amsterdam project comprised some 40,000 m², spread over 19 floors. The western tower was raised by three floors, giving an unobstructed view of Amsterdam from the skybar. A new four-star hotel has moved into this tower. The eastern tower still contains offices. The two towers are connected by a glass facade to create unity, both visually and physically. A parking garage has been built under the existing buildings. Around it is a semi-public garden.
"Our preference for these projects in the technical design and engineering design phase is to use an elaboration firm such as VDNDP because we can move faster with them and give a better interpretation of the model and the integral elaboration.''
